Our October event was a celebration for the 200th anniversary of the birth of Mendelssohn.
The event was divided into three parts. The first part was a talk given by Tom Corfield on Mendelssohn’s life. The second was a talk and recital on his organ works by Peter Williams, Tom Corfield narrating Peter’s words. The final section was a talk on his choral music given by Ed Stow. A choir of members and friends performed items from ‘St Paul’, ‘Elijah’ and ‘Lobegesang ( Hear my Prayer)’. The choir was conducted by Stephen Johns with Ed Stow at the organ.
