Professor Ian Tracey
at the Mobile Console
Console of the
Metropolitan Cathedral
In the afternoon we attended Evensong at the Anglican Cathedral. Following the service Professor Ian Tracey gave a talk and demonstration of the organ from the mobile console in the nave. He told us that with the addition of 7 ranks of pipe in the nave, the organ had regained the status of ‘Largest Organ in Britain’. Five members were then able to play the organ.
We then moved on to the Metropolitan (RC) Cathedral, where an introduction to the organ was given by Sam Austin (Organ Scholar). Members were again free to play the organ.
Our thanks to Frank Richardson and the staff at St. George’s Hall;
the staff at the Anglican Cathedral;
Sam Austin and the staff at the Metropolitan Cathedral;
and finally to Professor Ian Tracey.
Also our Secretary for all the arrangements
